We have taken a moment to reflect on the success of our 2025 Distinguished Citizen.
Monday night well over 200 people gathered at the State Carm Center to celebrate the Fighting Illini Men's Basketball Coach Brad Underwood and Scouting! The night was filled with great speeches from friends and community leaders. Scouting and our Scouts were prominently displayed for the whole community to show off the difference that we make! This event helped to raise almost $130,000 to support Scouting in Prairielands Council.
Special thanks to the event committee of Bob Ballsrud, Jeff Brown, Jen Fuentes, John Marquardt, and Eric Meyer!
Thanks to each and everyone of you who helped to make it a huge success!

The Prairielands Council Distinguished Citizen Award is presented to individual community leaders who provide outstanding civic service to the adults and/or youth in the community. Those who receive the award are not necessarily active involved in the BSA, but rather individuals who personify what the Boy Scouts stand for – good citizenship, outstanding moral fiber with a dedication to others, and for living their lives by the Scout Oath and Law. It also provides critical financial support through the Friends of Scouting campaign for all our programs across 9 counties in East Central Illinois and Western Indiana.
