The Boy Scout program (including Cub Scouts and Venturing) is 100% funded by donations and is 99% run by volunteers.
Each Scout does pay an annual registration fee (to cover the price to insure the child) and pays for activities (cost of camp, e.g.). But, the cost to acquire canoes at Camp, the cost to reserve space to hold training, etc. is all funded by citizens in the community.
This can be done in several ways:
* An outright monetary gift to become a Friend of Scouting
* A purchase of Scout popcorn from a Scout going door-to-door
* Participating in one of the annual fundraising events (sporting clay shooting, adult pinewood derby)
* Making a donation to the endowment or a bequest on behalf of a loved one.
We hope that you can make a tax-deductible donation this year to keep Scouting alive in East-Central Illinois and Western Indiana! |
