Wood Badge

Hear ye, Hear ye, WOOD BADGE SIGN UP IS OFF AND RUNNING!!! Scouters you do not want to miss taking the premier advanced training course known as WOOD BADGE that will be offered this fall (September 7-9 and October 19-21 @ Camp Drake)to all adult registered leaders, but the catch is, we only have so many spaces available.  So you need to stop by the Scout Shop and paid your deposit ASAP!!  The cost is $240.00 with ONLY a $80.00 deposit down now to secure a spot!!  Wood Badge is an excellent adult training that will only make YOU a better leader in Scouting and your professional life.  Oh did I mention…the food is not your traditional camp food, it is absolutely delicious and the camaraderie of meeting new Scouters will last a lifetime   For more information contact Course Director Marion Knight at:  217 778-4809 /email j-knight0900@att.net or Advisor Lovetta Ash-Simpson 217 531-0217/ lovetta.ash-simpson@scouting.org

Candy Bars available

We have increased the profits to 40 cents per candy bar.  Units can take bars by the box(36 or 50 bars), instead of full case.

Sell a few more bars and pay for summer camp trips

 

New Youth Protection Training due by October 1

The BSA has rolled out a new, more intensive YPT that all volunteers must complete by Oct 1.

Go to the www.prairielandsbsa.org and see unit resources at the bottom of the home page to take YPT2.

The training has several modules and each module must be completed before breaking.

 

Boundary Waters 2018

Troop 9 has a dozen spots with a $100 deposit paid for each that they cannot use this season.  If your Boy Scout Troop might be able to schedule a trip this year, contact Mike Clapper at 217-620-7881.  All participants must have canoe experience, be in average to good shape, and able to carry a minimum of 40 lbs. for a distance.  Each group is a maximum of 9 people per campsite.  North Country Canoe Outfitters (Ely, Minnesota) provides everything except personal gear.  Some units go to fish, and some want to canoe a certain number of miles.

Family Scouting Presentation

For our units who are still discussing their options to the BSA’s recent decision to allow girls into the program, there will be a presentation about how Family Scouting will be implemented at the Arthur United Methodist Church at 2pm this Sunday, June 10th. We encourage all unit leaders and charter representatives in the area to attend. If you would like more information, or can’t make the meeting please contact Parker at parker.arnholt@scouting.org or 217-531-0211.


Upcoming Day Camp

The next 2018 Weird Science Day Camp is this Saturday, June 9th in Urbana at the Champaign County Fairgrounds! Come on out for a fun day full of Cub Scouting Activities, BB Gun Shooting, Archery, and weird science experiments! You and your Cub Scout won't want to miss this!

Haven't signed up? Get signed up by calling the office at 217-356-7291, or going to our Summer Camp page on www.prairielandsbsa.org and fill out the necessary paperwork and return to the Champaign Scout Office by Friday!
