Boundary Waters 2018

Troop 9 has a dozen spots with a $100 deposit paid for each that they cannot use this season.  If your Boy Scout Troop might be able to schedule a trip this year, contact Mike Clapper at 217-620-7881.  All participants must have canoe experience, be in average to good shape, and able to carry a minimum of 40 lbs. for a distance.  Each group is a maximum of 9 people per campsite.  North Country Canoe Outfitters (Ely, Minnesota) provides everything except personal gear.  Some units go to fish, and some want to canoe a certain number of miles.

 

New Youth Protection Training due by October 1

The BSA has rolled out a new, more intensive YPT that all volunteers must complete by Oct 1.

Go to the www.prairielandsbsa.org and see unit resources at the bottom of the home page to take YPT2.

The training has several modules and each module must be completed before breaking.

 

Candy Bars available

For units that have already settled up their sale, we have increased the profits to 40 cents per bar.  You can take bars by the box, instead of full case.

Sell a few more bars and pay for summer camp trips.

FREE, FREE, FREE Pinewood Derby track to any Pack , 100 feet long, it wood!!!!  Contact First Baptist Church in  Champaign 217 352-2240, you must haul.

 

Day Camp registration deadline for all three Day Camps is this upcoming Friday May 18th!!  Make sure you sign up your Scouts for one or all three camps, Camp Drake June 2, Urbana/Champaign June 9th, and Tuscola June 30th at Wimple Park, cost $40.00, late fee after May 19th is $50.00.  Contact day Camp Advisor for more information:  Lovetta.ash-simpson@scouting.org  or 217 531-0217.

MT District Spring Camporee

All troops are invited to attend and enjoy the festivities and fellowship of the 2018 Many Trails District Spring Camp-o-ree this  weekend.  Remember to bring:

1) 10 x 12 or 9 x 9 Tarp 1 / Scout

2) 5 x 7 tarp or ground cloth of this size 1/ Scout

3) If able bring 1 rinsed out 2 litter pop bottle / Scout

 

Cub Camp Volunteers

The Day Camp in the Woods for the packs in the Many Trails District is seeking volunteers to help conduct the fun programs on Saturday,   June 2.  If you are able to help, please contact Kent McMahan at   born2bascout@gmail.com    to join the outdoor action.

Bugle Option for Summer Camp

Any Boy Scout can attend Camp Drake as a part of the Prairielands Council provisional camping option without their hometown Scoutmasters.  Join the Bugle Troop from July 15-21 this summer. This summer there are multitudes of adventures you can undertake to fill your summer with fun exciting challenges.  You can come back to camp to work on extra merit badges, awards, relax, or to push yourself to discover new events.

Holiday Family Camping Weekend

All Scouts and Scouting family members are invited to enjoy Memorial Day Weekend at Camp Robert Drake this summer.  All of the campsites are available for use on a reserved basis.   The cost for the entire weekend of camping is $20.00 per family or $8.00 per individual for the entire four-day period.
