Save the Date to Recognize Top Youth Awards 

 All Venturing Summit Award recipients, as well as Eagle Scouts, of 2017 are encouraged to attend the Prairielands Council Youth Achievement Recognition Dinner.   The recognition ceremony for youth recipients, their families, and leaders will be held on Saturday, February 17th, 2018.   This special event with highlight the achievements of these quality youth in appreciation of their tremendous efforts in Scouting.


Camp Staff Alumni Association

Please help spread the news of a gathering to recognize the past Camp Drake employees for their years of support for our council camp.  Older members of the Camp Drake Staff Alumni Association and their guests will gather in fellowship on Sunday, December 17th at 6:00 pm.   The festivities will take place at Riggs Beer Company at 1901 S High Cross Road in Urbana, IL


WIN A Klondike Cabin

Cabin and campsite space for the 2018 Prairielands Council Klondike Derby will be selected at random following the Camp Drake Launch on Dec. 9 at the Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.  Please contact Susan Coller at the Launch to get your Troop or Crew in the Klondike Cabin/Campsite drawing.




Walk the Plank for the Cub Pirate Fun!

The Camp Launch will provide pirate themed  insight into the program fun, the administrative details, and the equipment lists to prepare for your type of camp.  The Cub Scout Camp Launch for 2018 will highlight the summertime Blue and Gold events for the Prairielands Council this Saturday in Urbana.




Camp Drake Launches Reboot

The kickoff for next summer will be held on Saturday, December 9th, 2017 at Presence Hospital in Urbana. Restart the outdoor fever with the special program that will begin at 9:00 am. The Camp Program Committee of the Prairielands Council will happily present gift cards to all the Senior Patrol Leaders attending the Camp Drake launch.


Congratulations Eagle Scouts of 2017

The highest achievement in Boy Scouting will be celebrated for the Prairielands Council on Saturday, February 17th,  2018.  Congratulations to all Eagle Scouts, their families, their leaders, and their fellow Scouts for this remarkable recognition in 2017.  The extra effort from each support team has helped Eagle Scouts reach the pinnacle of the Boy Scouts of America.


2018 National Youth Leadership Training

This is the premier youth leadership training session for Boy Scouts and Venturers.  The course will be run over two weekends on February 23 - 25 2018 & March 9 - 11 2018 at Camp Robert Drake. This is a superb management experience for problem solving, communications improvement and decision making skills.




Camp Staff invites Arrowmen to Celebrate the Holiday Season

Join your cheerful brothers in spirited service to Camp Drake. Decorate the antlers for the Camp Drake Staff Holiday party on Sunday, December 17thth starting in the Training Center at 2:00 pm.  If you are interested in being on the 2018 summer staff, please attend.  


GO WEST for the Klondike Derby!

All Boy Scout troops and Venturing crews are encouraged to start practicing for exceptional achievement in cold-weather activities.  Watch for your favorite troop or crew at the big Klondike Derby on Saturday, January 27, 2018 on the downhill plateau slope in their homemade sled. 


Leave No Trace Training

The Leave No Trace Trainer Course is an informative, practical & fun workshop on the ethics and practices of minimum-impact recreation and travel. Prairielands Council is offering this weekend course designed to enhance your understanding of LNT principles and ethics and to increase your level of confidence in teaching Leave No Trace skills. The course is set for March 2-3, 2018




Many Trails District Annual Business Meeting

The Annual Business Meeting of the Many Trails District will be held on Thursday, January 11 in Danville, beginning at 6:30 pm.  All chartering organization representatives, Executive Board members living in the district and current members of the district committee are encouraged to attend and participate in the selection of the District Chair and the District Committee. The purpose of this gathering will be to nominate the volunteers for positions of the Many Trails District Committee, as well as the District Chairman, for service to Scouting in the upcoming year. A slate of officers will be presented by the Volunteer Development Committee for approval by voting members of the district.  A slate of a district chairman and a listing of committee members will be voted on for 2018 to conduct the business of the district.  A team of district level volunteers will help provide support to packs, troops, and crews of the Many Trails territory through various operating committees.  These committees include Activities, Advancement, Camping, and Training. All Chartering Organization Representatives, plus current Many Trails District volunteers and Executive Board members of the district, will be eligible to vote for the slate of volunteers.  This group of volunteers will serve for the 2018 year.   Please encourage your unit to send a representative to this important meeting.




Trophy for Top O.A. Troop

A fabulous Table Top Trophy will be presented as a part of the opening ceremony for the 2018 Winter Banquet at the Beef House in Covington, IN on January 6th, 2018.  The troop with the top total number of arrowmen and their guests with paid registration by noon on Friday, January 5, 2018 will be recognized for their Cheerful Spirit with a glamorous traveling treasure to display at their meeting place for the upcoming year.  Remember to promote Illini Lodge’s most enjoyable banquet ever conducted to your troop members.


Discount Option for Banquet Savings

Illini Lodge wants to provide a small discount for arrowmen and their families for the OA Winter Banquet.  Lodge members that attend with families members will only be charged $20.00 per person.


National Conference this Summer

Start making arrangements now for July 30  to August4, 2018 for an Arrowrific event of the ultimate magnitude.   The National OA Conference is an outstanding event for any type of Arrowman.   To place a reservation, youth can pay a deposit of $100.00 before January 1st.   It’s a great week of fun and inspiration!
