PRAIRIELANDS COUNCIL NEWS

FROM THE COUNCIL PRESIDENT

Dear Scouters,

We are coming to the end of the 2017 fiscal year and are behind plan in terms of fundraising. While our volunteers continue to make calls, we are still short of our FOS goal for the year by $38,000. On behalf of the Council, I am making an additional appeal for your help in securing additional FOS contributions from donors, making an additional contribution yourself and recruiting or sponsoring an MOS merit badge. Please reach out to Steve Adams if you are able to help in any of these areas.

We appreciate any assistance you can provide to help us finish the year strong and continue to deliver the Scouting program to youth, parents and volunteers in the communities we serve. Thank you for all you do on behalf of Scouting.

Yours in Scouting,

Kyle

Youth Leadership is the Goal

Introducing Scouts to the concept of people management in context with lodge and troop operations will highlight the annual Lodge Leadership Development Conference on Sunday, December 3 at  3:00 pm at the Illinois Fire Safety Institute in Champaign.  Entertaining instructors have been recruited to provide a top-notch educational experience for youth leaders and adult advisors.  As an Order of the Arrow member, young adults are expected to act as a leader. Illini Lodge invites all arrowmen to attend the annual leadership seminar to provide instruction on management techniques that will be useful throughout your life- in and out of Scouting.  The Lodge Leadership Development will review leadership styles, effective communications, and the committee structure of Illini Lodge.  All arrowmen, both youth and adult, are encouraged to participate in this lodge-building activity.  Plan to prepare for additional Cheerful Brotherhoodlyness.  Refreshments will be provided, but there is no registration fee.
