ORDER OF THE ARROW

Illini Sportsmen Appreciation

Thanks to all Illini Arrowmen who helped with the Smilin Pumpkin Outdoor Sports Fest on Sunday, Oct. 29 at Camp Drake.   It was a beautiful fall afternoon for over 250 Cub Scouts and family members to enjoy the outdoor spirit of Camp Drake.  The weather provided a great opportunity for so many Scouts and guests to experience shooting sports, outdoor games, and physical challenges.   By getting Scout families in the woods and providing an appreciation of nature, we are sharing our love for the out-of-doors and encouraging future campers in our council.  A large portion of our mission as Arrowmen is to promote the Scout camping experience.   Your help at the Smilin Pumpkin Outdoor Sports Fest achieves our goal as Illini Lodge builds the camping experience in the Prairielands Council.

Lodge  Leadership Development

As an Order of the Arrow member, young adults are expected to act as a leader. Illini Lodge invites all arrowmen to attend the annual leadership seminar to provide instruction on management techniques that will be useful throughout your life- in and out of Scouting.  The Lodge Leadership Development will review leadership styles, effective communications, and the committee structure of Illini Lodge The many aspects of people management will be reviewed in context with lodge and troop operations at the annual Lodge Leadership Development Conference on Sunday, December 3  located at the Illinois Fire Safety Institute in Champaign.   All arrowmen, both youth and adult, are encouraged to participate in this lodge-building activity.  Refreshments will be provided, but there is no registration fee.

OA Lodge Holiday Party

Arrowmen of the Prairielands Council will gather on Sun., Dec. 3 to enjoy the festive fellowship of our lodge.  Mark your calendars for the funniest gift game of the holiday season.    In conjunction with the leadership development of the lodge meeting, a goofy present game will exchange cheer with antlered arrowmen.  Bring along your arrowmen buddies for a celebration of OA brotherhood.
