PRAIRIELANDS COUNCIL NEWS

Please Keep your Sales Forms

Just a simple sales tip, but it has so many benefits that this must be said in bold print.   PLEASE KEEP YOUR POPCORN SALES FORMS.  These individual records of popcorn sale help in tracking customers, confirming sales records, and provide proof for prize programs.  Make the extra effort to maintain a unit file of popcorn sales data, as well as encourage each Scout to hold onto a copy of the sales forms for future reference.  This will benefit your sales in the future

2019 Registration Lottery

Interested in coming to Philmont in 2019? Registration for summer crews begins October 25th. In November, the Lottery determines trek date assignments (learn more about the Philmont Lottery system). We strongly recommend that units register for the lottery to have the best chance of receiving their desired trek date, and to have adequate time to prepare for their trek.

 2018 Available Trek Slots

it's not too late to come back to Philmont next summer!

Occasionally, there are vacant slots for upcoming summer treks (because crews drop out, etc.). These slots provide an opportunity for crews to register less than 18 months before their trek, understanding that they must operate on an accelerated schedule to fully prepare for their trek.

Slots are still available for 2018 treks. If you're interested in a 2018 trek, stay up to date by bookmarking our Available Slots page. Slot availability updates automatically and provides the most accurate data.

Unit Commissioners Support

A key individual in the development of a healthy unit is the commissioner.  The job of a commissioner is to support pack, troop, and crew leaders and their unit committees. A commissioner serves as a coach, a resource person, an advisor, and a sounding board for unit volunteers.   Additional commissioners are needed to provide guidance to unit leaders throughout the Many Trails District.  If you feel you have the talents to act as a mentor to a Scouting unit, please contact District Commissioner Kent McMahan at born2bascout@gmail.com
