Your Help is Important to Camp Drake
Next Saturday, May 6 has been designated as another Work Day for Camp Drake. Volunteers, both skilled and unskilled, are urged to help prepare Camp Drake for summer. This is at the same time as the Order of the Arrow Spring Fellowship. A part of the service required will be painting, so if you have skills in that area please wear proper clothing. Please RSVP to Mike Graham, @ (217) 531-0212 so that a lunch can be prepared for you. Work projects will start at 9:00 am at the Tin Shed on May 6
Council Activities Committee
The council activities committee will be having a meeting tomorrow evening at 7 pm at the Raymond Lee Scout Service Center in Champaign. Feel free to attend if you are interested in helping to plan or provide input for the council fall camporee, the Fighting Illini scout camporee, or the recently announced council-wide service project.
Youth Protection Certificate Generation
In My.Scouting, Youth Protection Training is delayed in generating a certificate upon completion. In order to print a certificate, the member must go to My Training > Completions, click on the printer icon, and then open the PDF file generated.We are expediting a permanent solution at this time.
Anyone taking Youth Protection Training will have to follow the steps above to obtain their certificate.

2017 National Jamboree: A Once In A Lifetime Experience!
We are still looking for more Scouts to fill out the Prairielands Council Contingent. Boy Scouts who are First Class and age 12 (or 11 and completed 6th grade) and under age 18 may attend.
Venturers age 14 and up may attend with a crew from another council. Call Steve Adams (217)531-0214 if interested.

With the warm up of spring, outdoor activities will increase for youth at all levels. There are promotional posters and flyers for all levels of the Scouting program. Make the families in your community know where to go to join Scouting.
Camporee at North Fork
All troops are invited to attend and enjoy the festivities and fellowship of the 2017 Many Trails District Spring Camp-o-ree on the weekend of May 19-22 2017. It is open to all Scout troops. On-site check-in will begin on Friday, 5/19/16 at 6:00 pm. There is an informational cracker-barrel that evening to review the details for the weekend. See registration form here.
Friends of Scouting
The FOS program highlights the need for financial support of the Boy Scouts of America. Each unit is encouraged to schedule a presentation for their Scouting families this spring. The Family Friends of Scouting campaign is a vital component for strengthening our local council.
Cub Adventure Camp Fees
To all Cub Leaders in the Discovery Safari: PLEASE NOTE To obtain a discount, registration fees for CS Adventure Camp have a 4/28/17 deadline. Cub Scout camping payments that are bundled into a group for the whole pack help to make the registration process go smoother. Keeping copies on file for your pack of medical forms, payment transmittals, and program requests will help your unit through the administration process.
Program Choices for Cub Scout Adventure Camp
Campers can pick their own path for Cub Scout action for the 2017 Cub Scout Adventure camp. Safari Colonel Parker Arnholt , 2017 Cub Adventure Camp Program Director has rolled out the activity schedule for the Cub Scout events at Camp Drake. Each den is able to choose from a large variety of advancement and action programs. The 2017 Cub Adventure Camp Program Grid is available at www.campdrake.com under the Cub Scout Adventure Camp tab. Check out the entire realm of aquatics, ecology, shooting sports and Scout skills events.
Summer Camp Food Requirements
Do members of your summer camp contingency to Camp Robert Drake have any Special Dietary needs? We want to help, but you need to tell us!! Email firstname.lastname@example.org AFTER fees are paid but more than 3 weeks before camp to avoid a fee of $50 ($10 per full day in camp) assessed to a unit that does not notify camp of special dietary needs. The Camp Kitchen may not be able to accommodate special dietary needs that are not shared in advance to CampDrakeKitchen@gmail.com due to the camp's food delivery schedule and staffing plan, and refrigerator space may also not be available. Please send an e-mail with your requirements to help us help you!
Camp Drake Leadership Opportunities
Summer camp is one of the best opportunities for youth to experience the important skills of leadership in action. The week-long camp period allows for Scouts to function in a tiered level of responsibility. Here are a few important options for young men to experience leadership at Camp Drake:
SENIOR PATROL LEADER CHARGE
There is no better way for a Senior Patrol Leader to earn his green bars than by experiencing a week at the helm of his troop at summer camp! Daily SPL meetings will be held to inform youth leadership of daily activities, notices, and responsibilities.
Lord Baden-Powell preached the patrol method for his Scouts, and we do the same at Camp Drake. Experience youth leadership in action.
ORDER OF THE ARROW
Leadership amongst a group of Honor Campers, as Illini Lodge conducts several important programs throughout the camp week. Develop your leadership in service to other Scouts.
Scouts interested in joining the “DRAKE CORPS” must be at least fourteen years of age and have attained the Star rank. The “DRAKE CORPS” members will be able to participate in certain traditional camp activities, including the adventure options, but will also serve as an assistant in conducting camp events.
Boy Scout Invitations
Troop leaders in the council are encouraged to contact local 5th and 6th graders about the fun of Scouting. The opportunity to join a troop during the great upcoming camping season is here! Special invitations can be personalized to advertise your fun troop events in the near future. Share the excitement of Boy Scouting with new families in your community
Camp Drake Collections
As part of the 85th Anniversary Celebration of Camp Robert Drake, Scouts participating in the springtime events at Camp Drake are receiving Scouting patches to start their own collection. As Scouts attend work days “on the banks of the Salt Fork”, past Scouting embroidered emblems are shared to serve as a beginning point for a Scout memorabilia collection. Upon attendance at Camp Drake this summer, Scouts can display their collection as part of the requirements for Collections merit badge.
Service for Pre- Mother’s Day Saturday, May 13
Make your mother proud. The first requirement is to show of all your motherly good deeds and attend a Tool Time Work Day. The 2nd requirement is to clean up after yourself after a rewarding day of Camp Drake service. Finally, provide mom will a nice remembrance that she raised you right….like an 85th anniversary commemorative Camp Drake long sleeve tee! And Mom will be happy that you are out of the house that day!

Spring Fellowship 2017
Join us on May 5th – May 7th at Camp Robert Drake for the fun of Spring fellowship. Please pay the $20 Attendance Fee and if needed, the $10 Cabin fee as soon as possible. All registration is due by April 28th attendance fee increases by $5 after and $10 at the door. Cabin fees still apply to speedpass holders.
