Council Pinewood Derby Race

Save the date and plan to be among the contestants!  Saturday April 8, 2017 at Judah Christian School (908 N Prospect Ave, Champaign).  Each Pack can send up to six Scouts for the Race Division and six Scouts for the Show Division.  A Scout can only compete in one division.  Registration fee:  $7.00 per Scout (includes race participation, insurance and patch).  Registration due for all Race and Show Divisions by March 27, 2017.  Payment due with registration at the Raymond Lee Scout Service Center.  Registration form and Race Day schedule available here:

OPEN RACE this year.  Open to all Scouts, siblings, adults, friends.  Only $10.00 per car entry.  Trophies will be awarded.  Race will follow immediately after the Council Race Division.  FLYER


Cub Scout Summer Day Camps!

Make plans to attend one, two or all three of the council Cub Day Camps.  A different program and patch at each camp.  Collect all three patches, they line up together to form one megapatch!  All camps run Friday evening through the day on Saturday.  Meals provided. 

Dates:  Drake Day Camp – June 2-3

            Tuscola Day Camp – June 16-17

            Urbana Day Camp – June 23-24

Cost:  $40.00 per session. $10.00 late fee if paid after April 29.  Meal tickets for adults are $10 each and include all meals and snacks

Theme: Snakes, Spiders and Bugs – Oh My!

2017 National Jamboree: A Once In A Lifetime Experience!

We are still looking for more Scouts to fill out the Prairielands Council Contingent.  Boy Scouts who are First Class and age 12 (or 11 and completed 6th grade) and under age 18  may attend.

Salvation Army Volunteers Needed

The Salvation Army Thrift Store is looking for several Boy Scouts to help with the thrift store.  A full description of the job responsibilities can be obtained by clicking here


United Way Volunteers Needed

The United Way is working with a great team to host an event at Garden Hills Elementary School for families with young children (ages 0-6).  They need some Scout muscle power to help set up tables the night before on Friday, March 31 from 5:15-6:15 PM.  You do not need to stay later or take down the tables.  What a great opportunity to help an organization that helps support Boy Scouting.





Prairie Fire District Camporee

“TREK AROUND THE WORLD”!!!  April 21 – 23, 2017.  Planet Camp Drake.   Explore experiences based on countries from around the world.  Get your passport punched.  Compete with other patrols for fastest, furthest, best.  Win the trophy and be the first around the world.

Registration is open now.  Cost:  $15.00 per person ON OR BEFORE April 14, $20.00 per person after April 14th.  (Volunteer Staff only $5.00)  Cracker Barrel for all staff, Scoutmasters and SPL’s on Friday night.  Saturday lunch provided.

Mark Your Calendars – PF Spring Kickoff

Wednesday April 12, 2017 the Prairie Fire District is hosting its annual Spring Kickoff for all the great upcoming summer activities and a preview of important dates for the next school calendar year.  Don’t miss this important and informative evening.  Refreshments will be provided.  The kickoff is scheduled to start at 6:30pm at the Illinois Fire Services Institute on Gerty Drive.  The meeting is expected to be completed by 8:00pm.




Summer Camp Fee Reminder

All troop leaders planning to attend Camp Robert Drake this summer should note the timing of the summer camp fees deadline.  Please remind your Scouting families that the Boy Scout summer camp fee date to save from paying added late fees is Friday, April 21st


Bugle Troop

Any Boy Scout can attend Camp Drake as a part of the Prairielands Council provisional camping option without their hometown Scoutmasters.  Join the Bugle Troop from July 16-22 this summer. This summer there are multitudes of adventures you can undertake to fill your summer with fun exciting challenges.  You can come back to camp to work on extra merit badges, awards, relax, or to push yourself to discover new events. 




Trail Tromp

Get on the hiking boots and Get On the Onaquispasippi Trail!  See the spectacular views around camp.  Add to your springtime calendar of fun events – the TRAIL TROMP is hiking on to your calendar on Saturday,  APRIL 1ST.  Walk the Onaquispassippi Trail and uncover secrets of camping past and prizes for our leaders of tomorrow. 


Spring Fellowship

Come out and have fun with ARROWMAN friends as you spend the weekend of the activities we will be doing, as well as an evening dinner. We will also be doing service to help prepare camp for summer camp. Spring Fellowship is May 5-7. If you want to stay in a cabin that will be an extra $10 on top of your registration fee and your cabin is not covered under the speed pass. We hope to see you out there for a fun Order of the Arrow themed weekend.
