Anniversary Week is Feb 5 to 11, 2017

Plan to celebrate the big anniversary of the founding of the Boy Scouts of America this February by showing off your Scouting spirit in public. Encourage a very visible service project in the center of town or promote uniform wearing throughout your schools, churches, or businesses. Use your local media outlets to inform the community about the successful facets of Scouting in your packs, troops, and crews.  Help spread the good news of Scouting during the anniversary week in February!

ORDER OF THE ARROW

Trophy for Top O.A. Troop

A fabulous Table Top Trophy will be presented as a part of the opening ceremony for the 2017 Winter Banquet at the Beef House in Covington, IN on January 7th, 2017.  The troop with the top total number of arrowmen and their guests with paid registration by noon on Friday, January 6, 2017 will be recognized for their Cheerful Spirit with a glamorous traveling treasure to display at their meeting place for the upcoming year.  Remember to promote Illini Lodge’s most enjoyable banquet ever conducted to your troop members.

Dues Increase for Illini Lodge

For the first time in several years, Illini Lodge has increased the annual rate of membership in our local Order of the Arrow organization. The annual fee will be $15.00 per year.  The projected budget for the lodge required an increase in income to match the planned expenses for the upcoming year.  Illini Lodge will continue to support the Prairielands Council and Camp Robert Drake with financial resources, as well as manpower assistance.

Illini Lodge Speed Pass

The Illini Lodge excitement has never looked better for our local Brotherhood of Cheerful Service organization.  The fabulous Illini Lodge Speed Pass is available during the normal Robeson Scout Shop hours.  Beware the frantic –last-minute holiday shopping traffic on the north side of Champaign as you approach action central.

Join a Committee

Please contact Lodge Chief Matt Brauer if you are interested in getting involved with a committee of the lodge.  Several choices for service involve a wide variety of options that support the brotherhood, the council, and Camp Robert Drake.  Your role in the lodge is important in building activities, improving communications, and/or helping other Scouts.

2017 Lodge Plan Book

The 2017 edition of the Illini Lodge Plan Book is distributed to lodge members at the Winter Banquet each year.  This guide to the local organization of the Brotherhood of Cheerful Service is a great resource for all arrowmen to be familiar with their involvement with the Order of the Arrow.  The plan book details the history of the lodge, the goals for the upcoming year, and the people involved with the various segments of lodge administration.  Get with the plan!

In fine Klondike Derby tradition, lodge members have been asked to serve at the council winter challenge at Camp Robert Drake on January 28, 2017.  The lodge’s very own Vice-Chief of Activities Blayne Beeson will provide leadership to the lodge’s support of the largest single day event in the council.
