POPCORN SALE PICK-UP
Don’t forget Saturday, November 12, 2016 is popcorn distribution day at Knox Warehouse or Faulstich Printing. If you haven’t signed up for a time, please give Elliot a call at 217-531-3011 or by email at Elliot.email@example.com. Once you receive your popcorn and need any additional popcorn please let us know as soon as possible as we will be placing 1 additional small order.
If you haven’t turned in your Unit Master Sheets, Prize Forms and High Achiever Forms please get them to the office as soon as possible. Even if you are doing cash option you still can order popcorn patches or if you have any $600 sellers are eligible for the $600 club. Popcorn prizes will be released after your invoice is paid in full. We need the Unit Master Sheet or a listing of Scouts that sold along with their total sales amount so we can invite the $1,000 and above to the popcorn party.

The months of November and December are good times to conduct a Membership Inventory with your favorite District representative. Commissioners from throughout the district will be contacting unit leaders for their youth and adult members to clean up registration concerns prior to printing the new charter kits. Please assist in this process by having an updated unit roster with current membership information on Scouts and leaders.
Klondike Derby 2016
Camp Robert Drake is the site of the annual winter camping challenge for Boy Scouts, Venturers, and their sleds. All Boy Scout troops and Venturing crews are encouraged to start practicing for exceptional achievement in cold-weather activities. Cheer for your favorite troop or crew at the big Klondike Derby on Saturday, January 28, 2017 on the banks of the Salt Fork!
Wood Badge Rendevous
A BIG shout out to volunteers Gay & Tony Martin, Greg Crawford and Carol Lang for a VERY tasty and successful Woodbadge Rendezvous. Not only did we enjoy some fabulous dining but also friendship and camaraderie and collected some cash for scholarships to Woodbadge and NYLT. It wouldn’t have been possible without all the effort and donation of many woodland critters.

CONGRATULATIONS to the 2016 District Awards of Merit recipients from the Many Trails District. The District Award of Merit is the highest honor provided by a local Boy Scouts of America district. Christine Hoagland of Pack 272 in Veedersburg and Jason Whaling of Pack 224 in Oakwood are very worthy Scouters for their many years of service to Scouting throughout the Prairielands Council. Christine has been a motivated volunteer in providing leadership to packs and troops in Indiana. Many Trails District Chairman Jason Whaling has guided the BSA operations for the district throughout the 6 county territory. Thank you to Christine and Jason for your long tenure of support for the Prairielands Council
Re Charter Season
The recharter packets for all packs, troops, and crews are available to be picked up at the Many Trails District Roundtable at the Danville United Methodist Church next Thursday. Starting at 6:30 pm, on Thursday, 11/10/16, charter packets will be distributed. Please be on hand to get a good start to the re-registration process.

The Many Trails District Roundtable will be an entertaining experience at the Danville United Methodist Church at 6:30 pm on Nov. 10, and Scouting leaders will be treated to training, activity info, camping details, and new BSA programs. On the second Thursday of November on Vermilion Street in Danville, the featured District Awards of Merit presentations will start at 7 and go until 7:40. Final comments and prize give-a-ways will run from 7:45 until 8: 00. Each pack, troop, and crew is encouraged to bring a car load of leaders to share the information, fellowship, and pizza at the roundtable.
Friends of Scouting Family Campaign
District Scouters will provide an entertaining fund-raising program to packs, troops, and crews to solicit funds for the Prairielands Council. The program highlights the benefits of Scouting and reviews the need for financial support of the Boy Scouts of America. Each unit is encouraged to schedule a presentation during the winter months for their Scouting families. The Family Friends of Scouting campaign is a vital component for strengthening our local council.
PRAIRIE FIRE DISTRICT NEWS
Congratulations to PF District Award of Merit honorees Chad Beckett, Fred Johnson and Derek Gatewood. Thank you for your many years of service to the district, to your units and to the Council.
Re-Charter packets will be available for pick-up at Roundtable this Wednesday (like tomorrow) Nov. 9th at the LDS Church at 7:00pm. Please be sure to SIGN OUT your packet!!! On-line re-chartering becomes available on Dec. 1, 2016. If you have new youth that need to be registered PLEASE do not hold those youth applications. It is VERY important that all youth applications are processed BEFORE Dec. 31 to meet district and council benchmarks. The same is true of advancement. To count for your unit’s and the district’s JTE goals all advancement for 2016 MUST be entered BEFORE Dec. 31. With the holidays it can be difficult to address all the issues that are going on, but your help and assistance will make a HUGE difference, especially this year with the conditional charter.
Be a part of the District Committee! Come make a difference in how the district and council operate. This is your place to change those things you want to see changed. This is where your voice will be heard. Next District Committee Meeting is Monday November 14th at 7:00 pm at the Illinois Fire Services Institute on Gerty Drive.
Klondike Cabin Drawing
Cabin and campsite space for the 2017 Prairielands Council Klondike Derby will be selected at random following the Camp Drake Launch on Dec. 10 at the Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. You must contact Susan Coller at the Camp Launch to get your Troop or Crew in the Klondike Cabin/Campsite drawing. Units must attend to win! CUB CAMP KICKOFF
The Cub Scout Camping season will blast-off on Saturday, December 10th, at the Presence Covenant Medical Center, 1400 W. Park St. (just north of University Ave.) in Urbana. The 30 minute “Camp Launch” will begin at 11:00 am and will feature the highlights of the Cub Scout Adventure Camping opportunities for 2017. All Cub Scout leaders and interested parents are invited to attend the Cub Camp Launch on December 10th. The Cub Camp Launch follows the Boy Scout Camp Launch at the same location, so car pool with your local troop leaders.
2017 is the 85TH Anniversary Season
The Camp Launch for the 2017 camping season will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10 at Presence Hospital, located at 1400 W. Park Street in Urbana, just off of University Avenue. The Camp Launch program will include program highlights for Camp Drake in 2017, procedural and registration updates, and tons of fun promotional information. Plan ahead today for a fantastic 85th anniversary camping season!
