CUB SCOUT

Pumpkin Success

On behalf of Camp Drake, thanks to all the great participants in the Smilin Pumpkin Outdoors Sports Fest.   The massive attendance for the weekend showcased the Scouting spirit, despite the nipping temperature overnight on Saturday.   The number of packs, as well as the number of campers, staying overnight was the highest level ever for the Smilin Pumpkin weekend.  The weather was tremulous for the fabulous activities on Sunday where again the participation was tremendous.  The rockets soared, the arrows flew, and the gaga ball crowned a champion.  All of the Cubs Scouts and their families deserve a hardy salute for their support of Camp Drake this past weekend.

Thanks to the Pumpkin Staff

Cheerful service appreciation goes out to the hard-working staff members of the Smilin Pumpkin Outdoor Sports Fest on Sunday, Oct. 23.   A tremendous achievement in the successful target in providing a fun day for Cub Scouts from throughout the Prairielands Council.   Special thanks goes out to Logan McDonough, an Arrowman from Troop 25 in Mahoumet,  for his leadership in managing the Sunday staff as well as his pre-event set up efforts.  Logan guided the largest group of Pumpkin Day volunteers, with over 100 Scouts and Scouters at the event.   All of the Cubs Scouts and their families appreciated all of the spirted Scouts and Scouters from the Prairielands Council,  the dedicated arrowmen from Illini Lodge #55,  and the supportive fraternity members from Alpha Phi Omega.

Cub Scout Shooting Sports Award

The Smilin Pumpkin Outdoor Sports Fest is a tremendous event for the promotion of blue and gold adventures.  Many of the requirements for the Cub Scout Shooting Sports Award are introduced, and several are completed by participating in the events.  The Cub Scout Shooting Sports Award can be earned multiple times for each year of your activities in the pack.   Look for more details at http://www.campdrake.com/cub-scout-adventure-camp/
