Dear Friends In Scouting,
On May 23rd, the Prairielands Council Executive Board voted against sending the recommendation to consolidate Prairielands and Lincoln Trails to the full corporation for consideration. The vote was 12 against, 11 in favor with 2 abstaining.
Immediately after the vote, a motion was approved by the Board to begin an immediate search to select a new Scout Executive for Prairielands Council and hire a Fund Development Director using unrestricted funds from the Prairielands Endowment for a three-year period. We will keep everyone informed as this process moves forward.
I would like to personally thank all of the Board Members who participated in the various committees of the Shared Services Study Group and the Executive and Advisory Board Members in attendance who joined in the discussion. I would also like to thank all of the stakeholders within the Council who provided feedback and participated in the Town Hall meeting. Going through this process as a Council has been beneficial and will help guide our decision making process.
Now it’s time to move forward by selecting a new Scout Executive to lead our Council and position Prairielands to best serve young people who participate in Scouting in the communities we serve.
Prairielands Council President
