NEW PRODUCT THIS YEAR!!!! Cinnamon Carmel Crunch……mmmmm!!

Please be reminded that to purchase advancement cloth patches a Unit Advancement Form must be completed with the names of all Scouts earning an award.  Advancement cannot be purchased without proof of the Scouts earning the awards.  Failure to complete the appropriate form can result in problems later when a Cub Scout is earning his Webelos Arrow of Light Award or a Boy Scout earning his Eagle Award.  If you are sending a parent or volunteer unfamiliar with this rule, please help everyone by making sure they have the appropriate forms to purchase the awards.  Thank you.

Fall School Night recruitment of new Scouting families has begun.  Congratulations to our Packs in the Urbana area for a terrific effort at the Urbana Schools Open House…….over 75 prospective Scouts expressed an interest in joining Scouting.

If your Pack or Troop has not scheduled a fall recruitment event yet, now is the time,  Contact your Senior District Executive, Lovetta Ash-Simpson (Prairie Fire) and Mike Graham (Many Trails District) to get the time and location set up.  They, or other District volunteers with assist with the in-school promotion as needed.

Materials are now available for your School Night promotion.   Recruitment flyers, stickers, parent information and yard signs are all available at the Council Service Center.  This year we have 400 yard signs so anyone who asks can have a sign to put in their front yard.  Let’s promote being part of Scouting!!

The Prairielands Council Executive Board recently approved a full scale local marketing campaign to promote Scouting in the area.  The campaign will feature TV advertising and radio spots beginning late August and last for three weeks.  Take advantage of these spots when promoting your local Pack, Troop and Crew activities.

Also remember to announce your School Night recruitment events to your local newspaper.  Small local newspapers are very supportive and will print the stories you share with them.  Promote new members recruitment nights, Popcorn Sales, recognize your leaders who have gone to training and more!
