BOY SCOUTS

Vermilion TreX for Older Scouts

River Kayaking, ATV Riding, Black Powder Shooting, Trail Biking and SCUBA Diving are parts of the older Scout option at Camp Robert Drake.  The Vermilion TreX program is available to any Scout 13 years of age by Sept. 1 of this year.  All qualified Scouts will have a variety of choices for adventure.  The Treehouse Cabin will serve as the headquarters for the Vermilion TreX participants looking to choose the Level 1 option of living the adventure life.

Gigantic Footprints found on the Prairie

Just after the last snowfall following the forever-lasting winter, enormous footprints were discovered in the open flatlands on the east side of Camp Drake.  These colossal tracks were centered on the area of the Prairie where the Immense Foosball Court was created.  It appears that some mammoth creatures have been using the large-scale table soccer field for their own game of Foosball.  Scouts of the Prairielands Council are asked to be aware of this larger-than-life phenomenon and start practicing for their chance to play against these REALLY big guys.  Look to enjoy another summer of the BIG GAMES at Camp Robert Drake!

COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING OPTION OPEN

There are still a few openings for 14 year-old Scouts or older to serve on the 2014 camp staff. Each Counselor-in-Training must participate in at least two sessions of Boy Scout camp and one Cub Scout Adventure camp session as a minimum.  An option to attend the Staff Education Week is available, if desired.

ORDER OF THE ARROW

Hello Illini Arrowman!

The fee for SF14 will remain $20 this week! In celebration of Illini Lodge turning 20 years old, the Activities committee has decided to keep the lower price for the week.

Still need to sign up? HERE'S HOW:

1)  Send Susan Coller an email at Susan.Coller@scouting.org and let her know that you will be attending SF14.

You DO NOT have to have the registration form or payment in when you email her.

Just let her know that you are coming and you can pay at the door for the $20 fee as well as any cabin charges.

The weekend is going to be full of fun, service, and entertainment! Illini Lodge 92 and Waukheon Lodge 55 will have a battle royale to determine who the more mighty is. Each Lodge will have their own "Chief" who will lead them to competition. Team building, races, capture the flap, and so much more will make this a weekend to remember for everyone involved. Saturday will end with the biggest birthday bash the 217 has ever seen!

And during the weekend the Champaign Bomb Squad will be coming out to demonstrate their robots, their equipment, and of course, they will be demonstrating how to blow something up. The reigning Lodge will have the honor of pressing the button to detonate as well, where else are you going to do that?

Lodging for the weekend will be divided into the two Lodges and troop members will be separated. Cabin lodging comes will be assigned on a first come- first served basis so make sure that you sign up soon if you want to be indoors. A schedule will be sent out shortly so that you know what we will all be doing ahead of time to help pack. One will also be provided for you upon check in on Friday night starting at 5:00 p.m. Plan to be at Camp by 7:00 p.m. to begin taking part in activities. There will be a cracker barrel Friday evening but there will not be a dinner served.

The key to this weekend is going to be having EVERYONE in Illini Lodge 55 out there to make this the largest event we have ever hosted. Grab a friend, grab that one guy you went through the Ordeal with, grab Johnny J. Scout with a flap from the corner and get them to come out!
