PRAIRIELANDS NEWS

BIG Thanks to Yard Sale Crew

A standing ovation to the great volunteers of the Camp Drake Yard sale on April 5th.   Special appreciation goes out the Ralph & Ellen Kuchenbrod and Wayne and Kathleen Frankie for their great leadership in conducting the fundraiser.   The event will support the older Scout opportunities for troops in the Prairielands Council for years, as the sale’s success will help provide an investment in equipment for the development of more challenging activities.  Thanks to all the Scouting customers for your participation in the fun fund-raiser.

FLAG RETIREMENT CAMP OUT

Troop 158, Chebanse is hosting a campout May 2-4, 2014 at the Iroquois County Fairgrounds. The theme will be a continuous flag retiring for the entire campout. The campout will start with an official opening and flag retiring ceremony. Each troop will be assigned a time slot to be the "Keeper of the Flame" and will be responsible for helping to continue the flag retiring throughout the weekend. Please bring all of your old flags that need to be retired. This is a great opportunity to properly retire those flags that we all never seem to have time to get to! We have several games, competitions & activities planned for the weekend. All Boy Scout Troops & Webelos Scouts are invited. Please pass this along if you know someone who would be interested in attending.  We have set up a Facebook page called "Troop 158 Campout" that has all of the info and registration paperwork or we can email the documents. ORDER OF THE ARROW

Have you heard about Spring Fellowship 2014 (SF2014) yet?? This May 2nd-4th is going to be the most awesome event the Lodge has ever hosted. Many moons ago in the May of 1994 two great Lodges merged to become one. Waukheon 55 and Illini 92 merged to become Illini Lodge 55. This weekend though, the Lodges will split again and a battle royale will commence to determine who the best Lodge really is! Each Lodge will have their own Chief and tribe to lead to glory! Lodge members will be greeted Friday the 2nd and divided up into the two teams.

The weekend is going to include team building competitions, competitions in general, ceremonies-including a special show "Rise of a Nation"-cheerful service, Brotherhood inductions, the new Ordeals, jeopardy, the lore of the past two decades, all topped off by the BIG BIRTHDAY BONANZA BASH (B4) late Saturday evening!

This weekend will also see the unveiling of a TONNE OF new Lodge Merchandise! The fabulous finance committee has created the attached flier to showcase all of the marvelous items available.

PLUS: there is going to be a BIG surprise for the weekend too!! It is still in the works and the "i"s are getting dotted, but you WILL NOT want to miss this opportunity. (More information in next week's email!:)

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO WITH ALL OF THIS INFORMATION.

1) Get yourself signed up for SF2014 (conveniently there is a registration form attached! Send into the Scout Office when complete and the marvelous Susan Coller (susan.coller@scouting.org) will get you signed up!)

2) Tell ALL of your troop about SF2014 so EVERYONE knows about it! (Even future Arrowmen can know! The BIG SURPRISE is sure to make you the envy of the troop! Especially if you are on the winning Lodge!)

3) Get ALL of your Order of the Arrow friends to come out May 2-4th to SF2014. Because everybody knows that large parties are the best and capture the FLAP is much more fun when it is 40 v. 40...not 5 v. 5. Our goal is 35 youth members per Weekend Lodge (don't worry adults, there are going to be activities for you too!)

Together, we are going to make this the best Lodge event yet! Sign up for SF 2014 today!
